PATCH is an artist-run studio located in the Binckhorst area of The Hague. Running since 2021 we have grown into a large and dynamic studio, organised around individual workspaces as well as shared workshop areas, performance spaces, a sound studio, a kitchen, and a bike workshop.
Built up from an empty 450 m2 warehouse, with no toilets or heating, this studio is organised to maximize sharing of ideas, workspaces and decision-making.
We are united by our interests in large-scale installations, live action, the appropriation of technology and electronics, a sensitivity for staging, ambition in producing public events, a strong belief in shared and open workspace, and a desire to learn from each other as part of daily studio practice.
We have fostered a studio that occupies a special position in The Hague: as an open and dynamic space where large-scale projects can be built, developed and presented under one roof.
We collaborate (within and outside of our collective) on projects resulting in public performances and exhibitions; we host open studios; we produce live performance events; we open our studio to other artists and makers as a place for collaboration, experimentation, sharing knowledge and facilities.
We are: Amos Peled, Andrzej Konieczny, Ayşe Emre, Bjarte Wildeman, Jacob Wallett, Leon Lapa Pereira, Maarten Keus, Milu Chen, Myles Merckel, Pelle Schilling, Inga Hirsch
We use the studio to produce funded work commissioned for exhibitions, residencies and festivals, as well as commissions and commercial work for other artists and institutions. Notable recent connections and collaborations of Patch members include:
LUMC, Het Hem, Traumburg (GE), Into the Great Wide Open, Collective Wasteland, Embassy of the North Sea, Livingmaps Network (UK), Studio Zoro, Gaudeamus, Waag.
